2.Revise the useful expression of insistence.

3.Study the language points in Lesson 37.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1 Revision and warm up

1.     Check the homework exercises.

2.     Lead-in

1)Do you often do shopping?

2)What do you often buy if you do shopping ?

3)If there is something wrong with the thing you have bought,what will you do?

 

4)What words have you learned about clothes?

trousers, coat, jacket, shirt, overcoat¡­

5)What color do you like best if you buy a blouse?

A gray one, red one, blue one, black or yellow ones

 Step 2 Presentation

Look at the picture on p. 55.

1.     What can you see in the picture?

Let the students know a new word:

blouse

   It¡¯s a clothes shop. There are many clothes in the shop. Two women are talking now. They are talking about the white blouse and red blouse in the shop.

2.     Ask the Ss how different clothes are washed. Make a table on screen if you like.

As follows:

HOT WASH         white cotton

WARM WASH       colored cotton

COLD WASH        silk, wool

Step 3 Dialogue

 The first listening

1) Where did the conversation take place?

The second listening

2) What did the customer buy last week?

3) What happened to the blouse she bought?

4) What did she want to do with the blouse?

5) According to the shop assistant, whose fault was it?

6) Why couldn¡¯t the shop assistant give her money back?

7) What did customer decide to do at last?

Then ask the Ss to act it out

Step 4 Dialogue Production

Ask the students to make the similar dialogues

 Situation 1: You have just bought a pair of shoes from a shop. But later you find that the shoes are not of the same size. So you go to the shop again. Make a dialogue between the shop assistant and you.

 Situation 2: You have just bought a tape-recorder. But it does not work as soon as you get home. So you go back to the shop and ask for a new one.

Teaching aims:

1.    Revise the useful expressions of making suggestions and the use of model verbs of obligation.

2.    Make the Ss realize the importance of First aid and learn some knowledge of First aid by reading comprehension.

3.    Enable the Ss master some knowledge of First aid and try their best to do more for the people.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1 Revision

1. Ask the Ss some questions connected with their daily life.

1)   How do you go to school every day?

2)   There are many cars, buses and bikes in the street if you ride your bicycles quickly and carefully, what will happen?

3)   If a person has an accident, what should we do?

4)   But how should we help him/her?

3.    Let the Ss watch the video and find out that if a person is injured, what we should do and what we shouldn¡¯t do.

4.    Tell the students: Today, we are going to learn more about First aid in Lesson 30.

Step 2 Presentation

1.Let the Ss watch a video and think about a question:

  What has happened in the video?

2.Let the Ss choose the right answer in order to check how much the Ss can understand.

A. telephone the First Aid Center and wait for the doctor.

  B. Run and look for someone for help.

  C. Lay the person on his back, close his nose, breathe into

his mouth in the mouth-to-mouth way and press his

chest regularly.

3.Check the Ss, answer and draw a conclusion: From this video, we can see if a person has stopped breathing, we should try our best to start his/ her breathing at once.

 

Using a mouth-to-mouth way: if a person can¡¯t breathe within five minutes, he/she will die.

4.Let the Ss watch another video and also make a choice.

A.   Do nothing before the person is taking to hospital.

B.   Use a handkerchief or tear a piece of cloth to press the bleeding point and fix the leg with a stick.

C.   Telephone for help and wait for the doctor.

5.Check the Ss¡¯ answer and draw a conclusion: From this video, we can see if a person is bleeding badly, we should stop the bleeding; if a person loses one third of his/ her blood, he/she may die.

6.Give the definition of First aid.

First aid is the science of giving medical care to a person before a doctor can be found.

Step 3 Reading

  1. Play the tape and then read the text fast.

2.Do Ex.1 in Wb Lesson 30.

3.Put up two tables on screen, showing the notes of three

important things to do and the three pieces of advice for dealing with common injuries.

Animal bites

Wash the wound under cold running water. See a doctor as soon as possible.

Burns

Cool the area of skin at once. Put dry clean cloth over the area of the burn. See a doctor.

Cuts

Wash the area of the cut, dry it and cover it with dry clean cloth.

4.    Deal with the language points in this part.

(1)            ¡­ you don¡¯t have to be an doctor.

(2)            Check that the person can breathe. Open the mouth and make sure that there is no food at the back of the mouth.

(3)            Lay the person on his/her back.

(4)            Here is some advice for dealing with common injuries.

(5)            Cool the area of skin at once.

(6)            However, after a few hours of study you will manage to know enough to save other people¡¯s lives.

(7)            If everyone in the country knew first aid, many lives would be saved.

   Step 4. Reading comprehension

1.    Ask the Ss read the instructions carefully

2.    Ask some questions.

 1) How many things in the home can be dangerous?

2) Can the children touch the electric wires?

3) What should we put round fires?

     4) What will you do if you are using gas fires?

  5) What will you do if a pan of oil catches fire?

    6) Where should we put poisons?

    7) While standing on a ladder, what will you do?

  8) Can the children get leave small things on the floor  

    on the floor or table?

Step 5 Consolidation

Ask the Ss to discuss the following questions with your partner. Then make a speech about ¡°First Aid and safety in the home.

1) Why is first aid important in our daily life?

   2) How do you deal with a simple cut?

   3) What must you do if a person is badly hurt?

4)What kinds of safety are there in the home?

Step 6  Oral practice
