Step 1  Revision

1.  Retell the dialogue and begin with.

Jackie is an Australian student….

Jackie is an Australian student. He  is going  to hear John Denver at the New Theatre on Saturday evening. He tells Yang Pei that John Denver is a successful American country music singer. He also writes songs for himself and has made lots of records. A programme of his music was broadcast on the radio last month. Yang Pei would like to go to the concert with Jackie, but he fails to buy the ticket, for it is very popular.

2. Act out  a similar dialogue according the situation in Part 2.

3.An interview the  partner on his/her favourite music and singers.

My partner, Li Ping, likes music very much. He is so interested in music that he listens to music every day either when he’s free or when he does his homework. He prefers foreign music to

Chinese Music. His Favourite singer is Michael Jackson, for he finds his songs exciting and passionate.

Step 2 Presentation

1.      Broadcast the song “ Take Me Home Country Roads”.

And ask the Ss :

1) Who’s  the singer?

2) What other songs of his do you know?

           piloting crashed into the Pacific Ocean near California.

      2. Tell something about John Denver.

    ( showing pictures of John Denver and broadcasting some of his songs.)

John Denver was a famous American Country Music singer. He was best known for his songs “ Rocky Mountain High.” “ Take Me Home country Roads” “ Annie’s Song” , “ Thank God I’m a Country  Boy.”

As we know, American Country Music is a kind of  pop music. It was born in Nashville, Tennessee and later it spread all over America, even in the world. Jimmie Rodgers, Elvis Presley. Michael Jackson and John Denver are the most famous singers of American Country Music.

Step 3 Reading

1.      Read the passage quickly and keep the following 2 questions in the mind.

2.Talk about the favourite music and singers.

Music is all in our  of human life. I think all of you like music. Some like singing. Others like enjoying music or songs, especially warship some singers, such as Zhang Xueyou, Xie Tingfeng, Michael Jackson, Carpenters, the famous American pop stars.
